Thriving scenic community
The beloved Cedar Park area is the pinnacle of Texas charm and growing, close-knit community. The city is just 17 minutes from Downtown Austin and continues to expand and offer new and exciting things to do while maintaining a down-to-earth atmosphere. According to Forbes magazine, Cedar Park is among the fastest-growing suburbs in the country and is the third-largest city in the Austin area. People move to Cedar Park from all over the US, so you can expect to find a range of people who live here and are attracted to the excitement of this unique and grounded city. The homes are affordable, and the apartments are attractive. It’s the best of both worlds: the beautiful views of Hill Country combined with a metropolitan lifestyle.
It is said by residents of Cedar Park that the community is extremely friendly and welcoming. The community enjoys getting outdoors to hike or stroll, but they also take part in all the food and entertainment the upbeat yet low-key city has to offer. In Cedar Park, you’ll find young professionals and families alike.
Walking down any of the streets in Cedar Park, you’ll be surrounded by warm and inviting restaurants, cafes, and eateries. Hungry for Mexican fare? Papalote Tacos is a small but mighty taqueria that serves the best breakfast tacos, and Blue Corn Harvest has scrumptious tacos and chicken fried ribeye. Santa Catarina has an upscale dining room with familiar Mexican dishes and a playground for the kids. Moonie's Burger House has been voted the best burger in Cedar Park for 12 years straight, and Mouton's Southern Bistro serves incredible and traditional Cajun-Creole fare (the portion size is well worth the money).
For the best ice-cold drinks in town, stop by Whitestone Brewery and The Dig Pub. Need a tasty mid-afternoon pick-me-up? Summer Moon Coffee (its wood-fired coffee is a must) and Black Sugar Coffee are go-tos for the creamiest (and tastiest) caffeinated treats around. Shack 512 is a seasonal waterfront restaurant and bar serving elevated American pub grub—a must if you’re hankering for a beautiful night on a huge deck with sunset views.
Get the breath of fresh air you’re looking for at Brushy Creek Lake Park, which has miles of hiking and biking trails, kayak rentals, a skate park, and a playground with a splash pad. It even has an area where you can dig for dino fossils. Cedar Bark Park is a wonderful dog park, and Anderson Mill West has a great playground. Over at Elizabeth Milburn Park, there are two playgrounds, sand volleyball courts, baseball backstops, and barbecue and picnic areas. A fantastic pool and beautiful community garden are also a part of the park.
Want another place to take a dip? Visit Veterans Memorial Park for a city pool with waterslides. The Twin Lakes YMCA park has a large duck pond (bring bread!), and Williamson County Park has a huge Quarry splash pad with a playground, trails, and recreational sports fields (there’s even a cute little railroad train that takes riders through the area).
Want to go to a fun event? The iconic HEB Center hosts hockey (Texas Stars), basketball (Austin Spurs), and big-name concerts as well as large events like Disney On Ice, Monster Jam, and Cirque Soleil.
As far as the holidays and special days go, there’s a large Easter and 4th of July celebration in Elizabeth Milburn Park, a Heritage Festival with live music, Fable Fest where children's stories come to life, and summer movies in the park. During the winter, there’s an Annual Tree Lighting and Santa's Workshop with horse and carriage rides, snow, and live music.
